Project description
My name is Human
Through the lens of the surrealist art movement, “My name is Human” questions what it means to be a person. It explores identity in the age of social media, and challenges teenagers to break out of their comfort zone and rebel against society’s beauty standards.
The garments are inspired by the dreamlike visuals of surrealism and the struggles many have during puberty, regardless of gender, such as feeling your body is disproportionate. Going outside what’s familiar can feel scary, so I wanted to facilitate this by having a balance of safety and comfort, and the more experimental.
